Megan has a Ph.D. in American History and is in love with the past. She works at the Biltmore-style Whitley mansion that is now a museum. Then a man turns up claiming to be Whitley himself, straight from 1902.
At first, all of the people doing tours and playing different characters from Whitley's life believe that he is a method actor who is applying to play Charles Whitley. As Megan spends time with him, she begins to realize that he's Whitley in the flesh. She becomes his tour guide to the twenty-first century, introducing him to smartphones, sushi, and pizza.
It's clear that Megan and Charles have feelings for each other, but he is determined to return to his own time. There is one gaping plot hole that I can't explain without revealing the ending (review with spoilers here), but it's a pretty obvious ending considering that this is a Hallmark publication.
Kate Rudd is a good narrator who uses a deeper voice for male characters to help distinguish passages of dialogue.
Recommended for readers who enjoy historical romance, star-crossed lovers, and time travel fiction.
Alexis Stanton is the pen name of romance author Eva Leigh. She lives in California.
