Stuck with You
Sadie and Erik have one wonderful day together before it all goes wrong.
Sadie Grantham is a scientist working out of a tiny rented space in Manhattan. She's practically paralyzed by superstition and the love of her life is her guinea pig. When she has a big win, she gets stuck repeating the same events to create another good outcome.
The novella starts when Sadie is stuck in an elevator with Erik during a power outage and must confront her feelings for him. She obviously has animosity towards him, leaving the reader wanting to know the full story.
Sadie's current good luck routine for work is that she must eat a croissant at her chosen cafe no matter how much she doesn't like them. When the last croissant is purchased by the man ahead of her, she is surprised when he gives it to her. The croissant serves as the meet-cute between Sadie and Erik.
The same evening after the croissant episode, they go to dinner. They discover a shared love of soccer and seem perfect for each other. When Erik pays for the bill, Sadie doesn't know if this is a date or not. At dinner, he offers to steal her from her green engineering firm to his own large engineering firm. He offers to take Sadie on another date, leaving the reader to wonder what went wrong between them.
Under One Roof, the first STEMinist Novella, also featured friend group Sadie, Mara, and Hannah. The first novella features Mara's love story in Washington, DC.
Recommended for romance fans who enjoy smart heroines and any of the following tropes -- enemies to lovers, second chance, or forced proximity.
