When Sparks Fly
Content warnings: car accident
Roommates and besties Avery and Declan slowly realize they're in love.
Avery Spark is the eldest of three sisters who were orphaned as teens when their parents died in a car crash. Because of this, Avery is still on edge when driving, especially in bad weather. Roommate Declan is supposed to drive her to Boulder to meet up with some college friends, but Declan gets drunk the night before and can't drive. Avery drives herself and ends up in a car crash that leaves one each of her arms and legs in casts.
Feeling extremely guilty about the accident, Declan volunteers to be her caregiver during her long recovery period. But as they spend almost every waking moment together, they start to realize the feelings for each other that they've ignored over the years.
The narration of the book is good with the exception of my slight annoyance when Jason Clarke makes Avery 3 syllables instead of two every time he says it (which is a lot).
Recommended for all readers of contemporary romance.
