Every Duke Has His Day

Content warning: animal cruelty

Elizabeth Dockering and the Duke of Loriton have a poodle mix-up.

Elizabeth "Bitsy" Dockering is the diamond of the season (the most desirable single lady for the uninitiated) and everyone knows she'll be engaged soon to Lord Peter Cordray. There's only one problem -- Bitsy's dog Galahad hates Peter. Cordray arranges to have the dog stolen so he can move in on Elizabeth, but his thief accidentally captures another black poodle named Lancelot.

Lancelot belongs to Lady Mary Harris, but her nephew Michael, Duke of Loriton is caring for the pooch while she's away. When Michael finds out his aunt's dog is stolen, he uses his keen scientific mind to investigate the case of the missing poodle. When Elizabeth offers to help, the two find they have more in common than black dogs.

Recommended for readers of historical romance looking for something different. This is Bridgerton meets Sherlock Holmes, and is a very refreshing new title in a sometimes repetitive genre.

Suzanne Enoch is a romance writer living in California.
