Danika "Dani" Brown is trapped in an elevator and her work friend Zafir "Zaf" Ansari rescues her. When the video of the rescue goes viral, they decide to fake a relationship to help Zaf's struggling charity.
I read Get a Life, Chloe Brown in audio format a while ago, and I was interested in what will happen to Chloe's sisters. Chloe's story is interesting because she's living with fibromyalgia, and characters with chronic illnesses are underrepresented in novels. After receiving a galley for the final book in the series, Act Your Age, Eve Brown, I realized I needed to catch up!
Talia Hibbert continues her tradition of including diverse characters in Take a Hint, Dani Brown. Dani is a bisexual black witch (in the pagan sense, not the Harry Potter one) who doesn't believe in commitment, and Zaf is a Muslim former rugby player who struggles with anxiety and grief over losing his father and brother.
The steamy love scenes in this book continue, so if you are a fan of proper romance read another book! Traditional romance fans will love these sexy scenes. There's also a bit of language (e.g., the c-word and f-word) if you're not into that kind of thing.
Ione Butler is a great choice to read this novel, as her English accent and quick delivery of dialogue make this book feel like listening to a British TV show. I would read another book read by her in a heartbeat. I like that the books in the series have different narrators, as if each story is being read by the sister who stars in it.
If you are looking for a wonderful romance about flawed characters, this book is for you. All romance readers should love this novel, as well as anyone into "chick lit" or British contemporary fiction.
Talia Hibbert is the bestselling author of romance novels with diverse characters. She lives in the English Midlands.
